25 YEARS
THE FALL OF SAIGON

So many years ago today
there was some celebration
of victory to some, and so
they cheered with their elation

So many years ago we watched
the frantic ones in tears
dramatic change had come, they knew
to escalate their fears.

So many years ago the ones
who fought, when ne'r a day
went by without a loss of life;
a heavy price to pay.

So many years ago we thought
of flags that covered friends
and that for which they gave their all
came to this empty end.

So many years ago and now
no fears ~ no celebration.
Just hope their sacrifice is known;
and that this IS a GRATEFUL nation.
