Lean Marine

I remember when I was a lean Marine

Fought like a Devildog and never tasted defeat

But the years have passed, I'm about out of steam

My belly's to big and I cant see my feet

I could run for miles just for the thrill

Let sand fleas bite and remain perfectly still

Now miles turned to inches and inches turned to pounds

I stand here amazed at how I got so round

I could shoot a bulls eye at 500 yards

Field strip my rifle completely in the dark

Now without glasses I'm as blind as a Bat

I couldn't find my bed  if I didn't know where it's at

But I'm here to tell ya life has been swell

I'm a former Marine who has been through hell

I wouldn't trade places with a living soul

I'm still a Marine, I'm just getting old
