La La land,
we've all been there.
It's that place where all thoughts turn to mush
and reality takes second place.
Some spend an excess amount of time there
you know...
vacant stare,
expressionless,
Lots of times this trip is less than memorable.

Where you been? someone may ask;

The reply is usually,  " Man, I guess I was in La La Land ".

But there is a look in the eyes that makes one glad
that they didn't book a double room there.
Cause when you check out,
The look is somewhere between glassy eyed confusion
and panic.

Sweat beads on the upper lip
knuckles white from hanging onto the edge.

Someone said that if your not walking on the edge, your taking up to much room.
I would like to invite that person to partake in the next trip to La La Land with me.
Living on the the edge ain't quite the hoot its cracked up to be.

Ever wonder what the road map to La La Land looks like?
Or what it is that captivates the attention of it's time traveler?
It Could be a land that only the individual can navigate.
You know the one who's walked the walk.
Rivers of blood,
trails of tears,
that sort of thing.

I don't think we could put La La land in the resort category.
Don't really need a bag to check in.
Checking out can be hell also.
Seems like La La land would like to imprison it's sojourners.
Keeps them longer than they wanted to stay,
and takes em' further than they wanted to go.
No reservation needed,
it's just that we drop in so damn unexpectedly.

Been to La La land a time or two myself,
I'm sure that there are many Veterans
and others that have booked a flight to chaos,
and mysteriously disappeared in this fog shrouded region of darkness.

Trouble is unless they book a round trip they may remain lost forever.
But then there is the sweet release from the realities of the present,

but not always.

Sometimes it's not a fair trade at all,
kinda like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Happens a lot during this time of year, around the holidays.

We travelers call it holi-daze.

Spending holi-daze in La La land can be a trip for sure.
Lots of Christmas ghosts from the past may show up.
Not exactly dressed for the occasion.
Dressed kinda like the last time we saw them.
When they do we find we need of a little more room.
We find ourselves searching for another door.

Distance.

So, deeper we go into the uncharted territory,
reality slips farther away,
sounds fade,
feelings disappear,
nothing matters in La La Land.

La La Land is a captive escape,

Sounds great doesn't it?

Perhaps I'll see you there.

But I hope not.

Fa la la la la - la la - la - laaaaa.....

Boon.
