Great Spirit

He who gives flight to the mighty Eagle

To soar in His heavens, 

and behold the wonders of his universe.

The Great Spirit breathes life into all creation

And brings beauty to the earth.

He Nourishes his tribes with rivers

of crystal waters to quench their thirst.

He levels the plains and cools them

in the shadows of his mountains.

He carpets them with tall grass

to comfort his people.

Kine and Buffalo are provided for food

and clothing so that life can remain.

The Great Spirit dwells in the tipi

of  the Warrior and strengthens the heart.

He Gives the vision of  The hawk to the hunter

And the strength of  the Bear to preserve his heritage.

He gives quickness as the Rattlesnake to strike his enemy

And the cunning of the Wolf to take his prey.

The Great Spirit watches over his own, 

and brings peace and solitude with the setting  of His Sun.

His people live in harmony among one another,

They live life in innocence, speak with an honest tongue  

Trade without deceit, Provide for their old and their young.

Live in the shadows of their elders with respect for tradition

 His people can rest without fear and with

great  peace and say......

" This, is a good day to die."
